Version 5.5.8 improves Path Finder integration, corrects
default folder problems and user interface issues.

If you already bought Version 5, this update is free.

If you are upgrading from version 4, this may be a paid upgrade for you.

If you have a Default Folder X license purchased before June 1, 2015, there is a $14.95 upgrade fee for this version. If you purchased on or after June 1, 2015, your upgrade is free and your existing serial number will work in version 5.1.

What's new in version 5.5.8

  • Fixed a bug that could result in the Finder-click feature switching to the wrong folder when clicking on Path Finder windows.
  • Improved Default Folder X's tracking of Path Finder and ForkLift windows so it recognizes when dual-pane mode is turned on and off in them.
  • When you right-click on a dual-pane Path Finder or ForkLift window while using Finder-click, the contextual menu displays a separator between the folders from each pane.
  • Corrected errors that could result in the Favorites menu not correctly enabling / disabling its commands for managing default folders.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause default folders to fail if they required matching a saved file's filename extension.
  • You can now drag and drop apps into the Exclusion list in Default Folder X > Preferences > Options.
  • The preview pane below Open dialogs will no longer extend behind the Dock.

  • I would like to move folders like 'Pictures', 'Documents', 'Movies' to a different from the default under the root of user's home location, preferably into a sub-folder under the same user's home folder.
  • In the subtitle of a Search, you’ll find the the center option now selected by default, rather than “This Mac”, which is the OS X default: This setting makes finding things and sorting through the often huge repository folders like /Pictures, /Documents, and /Downloads so much easier, and you won’t end up with results from oddball.

Finder in Mac also allows us to set some default folders so that we can access them easily. Just go to the Finder Preferences to set a default folder for quick access. The toolbar on Mac already provides a lot of options, but you can further customize it to make it easier for you to find files on Mac.
